

The license covers North American theatrical, home video, video on demand, and broadcast distribution. The movies will be released in Japanese language with English subtitles and will be released sequentially during fall 2016.

The three films, distributed by GAGA Corporation, include Rurouni Kenshin: Origins (renamed for the re-release), Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno, and Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends. On June 21st, 2016, Funimation Films announced that they acquired the rights to the Rurouni Kenshin live-action trilogy. It was released in the Philippines on August 2014. I wish Funi had simply done straightforward, sensible, mature subs for this and the other live-action Kenshin films. These include Yusuke Iseya as Shinomori Aoshi and Tatsuya Fujiwara, who plays Shishio. It is the first of two sequels to the 2012 live-action Rurouni. The film reunited Keishi Ohtomo (the director) with actors who played roles in the NKH television series called Ryomaden. Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno is a 2014 Japanese film directed by Keishi tomo and based on the manga series Rurouni Kenshin. Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno is the sequel to the Rurouni Kenshin live-action film, which is based on the time when Himura Kenshin is asked by his old rival Saitō Hajime to help him put an end to Shishio Makoto's reign of terror.
